Project “Film Tottenham”

I decided to embark on a journey to bring filmmakers and audiences together in Totttenham, London. This was partly about bringing people together in the community and also part of my own continued development as a filmmaker and member of the audience.

I have been very fortunate to be able to screen commercial feature films at Blighty Cafe in Tottenham. Purchasing single screen licences for films, I’ve started to build an audience to watch films together on the big screen (utlilising my personal projector at first with a 150 inch projector screen).

Marketing through social media and creating advertising from scratch has been a small rather tricky mountain to climb so far but I’ve learnt an incredible amount about distributing film on a small scale. The next phase of Film Tottenham has started whereas I am bring together short films and their respective filmmakers for screenings in Tottenham.

This has been a great way to meet potential future collaborators and get a sense of what creatives are out there in Tottenham (out there in a physical and zany sense too). I hope to bring together a strong community of film-lovers and creatives through the Film Tottenham project. It is now nearing its 4 month anniversary as I write this post. In between writing new projects, I’ll be working on the ground in Tottenham to get people in a room together watching films!!
